Daylight & Lighting Design
Daylight Simulation and Lighting Design including powerful visualisation and calculations (BREEAM & BRE assessments) to optimise natural light which will reduce your energy consumption. This is often a critical factor in passing compliance for commercial buildings, however, is also very relevant for healthy homes.

Daylight Simulation and Lighting Design

Daylight Studies
Daylight by nature is dynamic (constantly changing) thus it makes sense to use a dynamic simulation model to predict the impact of openings and shading to enhance as much useful daylight but without compromising comfort from glare factors. Using detailed sunlight models and simulation of the building in an 3D environment it is possible to show adequate levels of daylight for all spaces and even if an individual window will get enough sunshine through the year.
Lighting Design
Lighting design goes hand in hand with daylight assessments. As well as using the latest low energy lighting, a major benefit can be done by using sensors and daylight sensing and dimming controls. The associated energy savings can be quantified. A good lighting design will take into account colour, brightness and glare which can be a factor on your occupant comfort.
"Employees have reported a 15% increase in productivity from better daylight conditions and daylighting can reduce electricity consumption by up to 75%"

How We
Can Help
Traditionally heating/services were a standard work package handled by the trades and architects but buildings, regulations and the needs of the client have become more complex over time, and rightly so. Heating is integral to the comfort and well-being of your home/work and is only now been given proper consideration in the build. Also, often it can have the largest impact on operating cost for you in terms of bills and carbon impact over the long-term. In addition, there are a multitude of options available with renewable technologies in a fast-changing market. There can be a considerable cost benefit to have input from specialist independent building service engineers at several stages.
