Utility Connections

Water and  Electricity (“Utilities”) typically require a connection agreement with the provider. Utility Connections can be done for domestic or commercial buildings.

We tend to manage the application and perform any design calculations to assess load and size of connection points.

Utility Connections

Water connection Agreements

Let us help with your water connection. After an initial set of design calculations has been done we can find the optimum balance between not overdesigning the required connection and providing enough supply.  We can also look at alternatives that may be more cost effective if you are some distance from the main supply.

Electricity Connection agreements

Part of any new build project a power connection agreement can be complex. A good set of load calculations and any necessary drawings and diagrams can help speed up the connection process. We can also look at the costs involved and help you negotiate for the  works involved.

Even a domestic utility connection can require a technical input as these days it is likely to involve a heat pump, Electrical Vehicle Charging and/or a solar generation system- any one of which requires specialist technical inputs.

Average domestic electricity consumption (Scotland) - 3,850kWh per year per house

How We
Can Help

Traditionally heating/services were a standard work package handled by the trades and architects but buildings, regulations and the needs of the client have become more complex over time, and rightly so. Heating is integral to the comfort and well-being of your home/work and is only now been given proper consideration in the build. Also, often it can have the largest impact on operating cost for you in terms of bills and carbon impact over the long-term. In addition, there are a multitude of options available with renewable technologies in a fast-changing market. There can be a considerable cost benefit to have input from specialist independent building service engineers at several stages.
